The intellectual approach and radical philosophy of Slow Food provided the inspiration for the Expo Milano 2015 masterplan. Founded in Italy during the 1980s, Slow Food is an ecogastronomic movement, with a presence in a total of 150 countries, that advocates respect for and maintenance of a balanced ecosystem and biodiversity. Though one of the principal organizers of this Expo, it has taken up the farthest – and most tranquil – spot on the premises. Three silent huts have gone up here, their simple wooden structures inspired in those of traditional houses of the Lombardy region. Forming a triangular court, they separate the program into three parts. The first presents an exhibition about food products, the second provides a space for tasting, and the third is a venue for conferences. When the universal exposition closes in autumn, the three buildings will be torn down, transported to various schools within Italy, and reassembled to serve as educational gardening sheds...
