The latest addition to the Berlin Kulturforum goes up between the Philharmonic of Scharoun and the Neue Nationalgalerie of Mies van der Rohe, designed as a large gabled volume with multiple accesses that replicates the materiality of the nearby Matthäuskirche.
The museum aims to integrate and interrelate all the different parts of the Kulturforum: two boulevards arranged in a cross-shape give access to four quadrants with a unique identity and form a central atrium. The exhibition spaces all converge into this atrium, filled with light that penetrates the building through a large gable roof.
