LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM 2008 2012
This new private house is located on a quiet street between the Brompton Oratory and Brompton Square. The proposed building will have three storeys above ground level and two further floors underground. A stepped section allows daylight to reach the neighboring properties to the rear, and a double-height winter garden creates a layer of privacy towards the raised public square on Cottage Place.
The ground floor entrance leads into a grand entrance hall, garages to the front, and a guest bedroom and a gym facing the back garden. The first floor has a generous floor-to-ceiling height and contains the main living spaces of the house, with living and dining rooms located at the front, and a top-lit kitchen and grand staircase to the back. The master bedroom suite occupies the whole of the second floor, with balconies giving access to the winter garden and connecting the living spaces. Further bedrooms and staff accommodation are located on the lower ground floor with direct access to the garden. A swimming pool, entertainment space, wine cellar, and snug occupy the basement.
The facade is built from load-bearing masonry. Roof copings, window sills, and lintels are made from reconstituted stone to match the color of the brick facade. Ventilation panels, entrance, and garage doors are made of bronze.
